INTERIOR AND SPATIAL DESIGN
About
Laura Raus
Originally from Tallinn, Estonia, I completed my design studies at University of the Arts London. My career started working on prime residential projects in Central London.
After life took me to Amsterdam, I founded my own one-woman company and started working on projects independently. Having always been a "jack of all trades", I love working on various different types of creative projects.

My design ethos
How I design
While I adapt to each project and design with the client at the forefront of my mind, there are some key philosophies that follow each of my projects:

-
Functionality
The aesthetics of a space fall into place after considering all the practical elements - known in the design world as the "form follows function" principle. I will never make a design less useable to achieve an aesthetic idea.
-
Sustainability
I endeavour to keep existing elements and materials where possible, and work with charities to donate leftover items. I always prefer materials that are long-lasting, natural, and recyclable.
-
Future-proofing
It's important to leave room for changes to interiors even after finishing a design project - our needs change, families grow, and lifestyles evolve.
-
Warm, honest materials and spaces
I always try to create spaces that feel inviting and have a positive emotional impact, fit to their purpose. I use a lot of natural materials and avoid anything "faux", and place a huge emphasis on lighting.

I also believe that design is an everlasting progress - my inbox is always open for past clients who need advice or are craving an update!
